Beautiful fall day . .

I’m back on my feet and functioning . . . was on my feet (and seat!) yesterday and made it through almost an entire day at the shop but can’t say I was functioning very well. Feeling much better today. It helps that it is a beautiful fall day, warm & sunny, only the tiniest amount of breeze. Sure hope the nice weather lasts more than a few hours this time.

Itty Bitty Babies

Itty Bitty Babies

My “babies” and the first pattern book of crocheted clothes patterns for them arrived about 10 days ago and I received word that the holiday clothes pattern books will be in early this coming week. I’m trying to finish up a few other projects before I get involved with dressing a baby but they’re so tempting.

Good news for my friends who prefer to knit: the knitting version of Itty Bitty Baby Doll Clothes is now available for pre-order. It looks like we can expect this book around the end of November, just in time for Christmas.

More new stuff will be arriving next week. The tatting needles should be here about Wednesday or Thursday and I’m hoping the new yarn will get here by the end of the week. The yarn is from a new company and there will be some small balls of 100% wool, some acrylic/wool blend and some 100% acrylic.

Yarn Basket will be closed Saturday, November 7, since I’m participating in the Christmas Show at Meadowbrook Mall on the 7th & 8th. Then on the 14th & 15th the shop will be closed so I can be at the Holiday Festival at the Franklin Community Center.

Early Closing Alert Wednesday 10/28

I may close the shop early today ~ very early in fact ~ since I feel like I’m coming down with a cold and don’t want to share it with you. I will definitely be there for a while though as I’m expecting an important product delivery and need to make some phone calls. I’ve also found over time that if I “give in” to it as soon as the symptoms start I recover much more quickly than if I try to work through it.

Thursday Mornings

Please bear with me ~~ I’ll be opening a bit late most Thursday mornings for a while; don’t know yet just how late but I hope to be here by 10:30-10:45. On doctor’s orders I’m attending some health related sessions on Thursday mornings.

Now for the good stuff: I got in a little more new yarn today plus re-stock for most of my Caron Simply soft; yesterday I received some new pattern books and leaflets; am expecting more yarn about the middle of next week and some baby dolls tomorrow. oooh, it’s like Christmas for me already opening all the boxes of goodies.

And: my daughter is coming in this afternoon to spend the weekend with me so there’ll be some crocheting & girl talk going on at my house the next few days. My grandson will be with some of his friends so it’s just us gals.

Random Thoughts of a Knitterly Nature

A new class has been added to my Classes Page ~~ we will be knitting and felting (fulling) slippers using the popular Fiber Trends Felt Clog pattern.

Just received an announcement of a special offer on Clover products from one of my suppliers. If you have been yearning over Clover knitting needles or crochet hooks that I don’t have in stock, lets talk about a special order. The offer includes the Mini Kacha-Kacha counter which is super nice for crocheters who can’t just hang a barrel counter on the hook the way knitters can hang one on a needle. I have until November 4 to place my order.

Earlier this week I received two packages of yarns from a potential supplier to swatch, squeeze, pet and otherwise consider. Most of them are still spread out on my project / class table if you want to stop by and take a look.

On a non-knitterly ~ and non-crochet ~ note, does anyone want to come over to my house and help mow my lawn? I’ll bake brownies for the occasion. Maybe it’s the rain, but it seems like grass sure grows fast while I’m busy with my needles and hooks.

Farmers’ Market October 3

I didn’t go to the Farmers’ Market after all so I’m here normal hours.

Two new colors of Poems sock yarn are now on the shelf along with five colors of Poems worsted weight wool and three Classic Worsted Holiday yarns (machine washable acrylic/wool blends): Red Glow, Ebony Shine and Twilight Twinkle. Two new “baby” yarns in a DK weight have also arrived and there are still some good buys to be had among the clearance yarns. Prices reduced on all previously in stock sock yarns ~ let’s make room for some different ones.
